SKI Magazine Weekly Gear Review Selection
"...I’ve put [the] 100-percent spun polyester top through its paces during chilly morning runs and variable-temperature mountain hikes, and it hasn’t disappointed, moving moisture away to keep me cool and providing warmth when my inner furnace powered down..." Read more
Whether hiding from the sun’s UV damage high in the alpine, weaving through trees on your weekend trail run, or working on your roll cast, the Solstice will keep you cool and covered up. The oversized hood blocks harmful UV, and sleeves with thumbholes and chafe-free seams provide all-day protection and comfort. Also ideal as a lightweight baselayer in cooler temps, the highly versatile Solstice Hoody will quickly become a mainstay in your layering system.

Go-to base layer for mountain outings. Also great for wearing around home. Please make more of these.
Soft lightweight material, the hood size is great, and I love that the colors are light so the shirt doesn’t absorb heat. Excited to put some miles on the sun hoody this summer! My only gripe is the size fits smaller than I thought, so I might have to size up for my next one.
I recently wore the Solstice Hoody as my baselayer skiing from Badger Pass out to Glacier Point in Yosemite for 2 nights of snow camping. It performed flawlessly for 3 days! It kept me dry and protected from the sun during high output skiing in warm daytime temps, and then kept me warm at night when temps dropped, Loved having the hood! This will be my go to base layer for a trip into the Picket Range this year!

I've used this hoody a few times and it has worked great! Breathable! Hardly any moisture in the back via the warmth friction from backpack. Reminds me of the R1 Hoody just about. Nice and warm!
So friggin comfortable that I hardly noticed I was wearing anything! The only complaint I have (which really is not a complaint, more of a personal thing) is I wish the arms were an inch or two longer. That way the sleeves would be way more comfortable when using the thumb holes. Other than that, its a RAD base layer! On a side note, backpacks need to be re-invented! We deserve a totally different type of style and fit! I have ideas! :)
Very comfortable and easy to wear. Wore it on one of my 14er hikes and loved everything about it. Lightweight, SPF, the list goes on. Love your products
I used it this season so far for warm weather climbing. Before sunrise (20-30 degrees) with a baselayer underneath it's terrific as a second baselayer or even a midlayer. When the sun rose and it became hot (85-90 degrees) then it was still an excellent breathable and cool layer with the hood up to keep the sun off my neck and face. I had the Mountain Logic version and this one improves on that with better fabric.
I have barely taken this thing off since it arrived. It’s been a constant companion on early morning hikes, casual bike rides around town, climbing at the local crag and even chilling around my apartment. It does exactly what it’s supposed to do, keep you cool, keep the sun off, and keep you dry. I haven’t had it long enough to really test the durability, but so far it’s held up to sport climbing and bouldering on some pretty rough Wisconsin sandstone. Can’t wait to test it more this winter as a base layer and hopefully next summer on some true alpine terrain.
The minute this showed up I put it on and I've hardly taken it off since. I hike everyday afterwork and long trips on the weekends. Im Ordering at least one more, it just works. Most spring summer fall activities would benefit from this shirt. Perfect weight, wicks very well, and looks fantastic. More like this please!! Ok maybe a little more about function: The weight isn't super thin but works awesome as a base layer or in its own. I can take it off and shake it out and all the moisture flies away. The odor protection just works. I smell like me,! Which I don't mind, but there is very little to no " odor". I can walk into somewhere after hiking and not feel subconscious about it. The breathability is also exceptional. Dries in no time and stays warm when you need warm ( night, cold damp weather), and cool when it needs to be. The construction is very good. The only more I would make on that is that it would be nice if the thumb hole under flap, if that makes sense, could be sewn instead of turned and the end done. I think I understand why it's like that, to sit flatter, but that spot is slightly frying.. Feel free to contact me for more info and or picture. All and all I love the shirt and want more. I may look into other Bight clothing for the cooler weather ahead. Thank you! Patrick
Great. The only thing I might change is to make the hood part of the hoodie a little more structure around the edge...maybe add a drawstring? It’s a little floppy.....Otherwise I love it. Great fabric fit and color!
Perfect. Light weight, plus arms, neck, ears, and head are protected on sunny days. The length is great; no riding up on the waist.
Bought the Hoody and used it for a five day kayak paddle trip on the Willamette River with Willamette Riverkeeper. The hoody was the perfect top for the 100 mile paddle. Cool with great sun protection. Looking forward to using it next week for a trip in the Olympics for a marmot survey. Keep up the good work!
Just used on a climb on Mt Elbrus. Very happy with it so far. I’ll see how it holds up.
I love these sun shirts! Lightweight and breathable, perfect for spring/summer climbing on the volcanoes or elsewhere.
I wore the hoody from car to car on my last trip to Rainier. The solstice is perfect during the approach and hanging at camp blocking out the sun. I wore the Solstice as a baselayer for summit day as well. After four days I finally took it off and it still smelled fine.
Great! My arms, neck, ears, and balding spot on the top of my head- all protected from hot sun in the Olympic Mts. Love its light weight. Put it on and add layers as needed. I will be wearing it often. Not just in the hills.
I live in the AZ desert so hiking here can be pretty extreme and sun protection is a must! This hoody is great: lightweight, full sun protection and unstinkable (so far!). My only suggestion would be to add some stretch to the fabric so that it has some more “give” to it; I think that would make it even more comfortable.
Wore it straight for 4 days and 3 nights backpacking wild basin RMNP in mid July and was as happy as i can be with the performance of the gear. Kept me warm till 50f and not stinking of sweat. Dries pretty fast and easy on the skin. Also provides nice shade and comfort and pretty stylish. I would definitely recommend this hoodie to anyone.
